Well, well, well! Another week of Photo & Tech news! I have a TON of news for you from 9/10–9/17/2021! Let’s get into some of this news!
- To start, I have a tiny tech change! The Google Pixel Device Personalization Service Program has been renamed to Android System Intelligence, with a new icon as well! I have to say that this new Icon is super nice!
- Although Google didn’t advertise this, they have added a new 5 Terabyte option to the Google One Service Subscription.
- It seems that Google is continuing to work on that seamless connection between Chrome OS and Android. Read from 9–5 Google. Another report found that it would bring mirroring capabilities. You may be able to mirror your screen from phone to laptop like Windows allows with Samsung phones.
- Google is being dirty with Discord and trying to take down music capabilities. Rythm went offline just shortly after Groovy did last week. Rythm did say that they are working on a new project that has ties to discord.
- Want to hear the history of Hangouts! Android Authority has an article about the life of Hangouts and it’s current death. Google really screwed up 😂.
- We got these new leaks on the specs of the DJI Mavic 3! This drone could host a terabyte of onboard storage. It will also have a 7x zoom lens… only I kinda need that in Milimeters before it means a thing 😂.
- Google Messages is getting a feature from Gmail which reminds you if you have not replied to a message!
- The new Windows Photos app is coming out in betas! It looks pretty cool! Hopefully they actually add new features.
- If you wanted to become a Pixel Superfan, you no longer need an invite. Sadly, you still need to be approved which I have not yet. 😢
- Realme is creating a Google TV powered streaming stick and most notably, it is going to be available in India!
- The Epic vs Apple made some minor changes to the App Store and The Verge explains them here.
- The Android Auto replacement, Assistant Driving Mode, is getting changes and updates that Android Auto was not getting! A new home screen is now out!
- Nikon is working on a Video Focused Entry Level Camera!
- Former Apple CEO and Executive Steve Wazniak is launching a Space Garbage Company!
- Xiaomi is making glasses with a screen! Yes, this may be the most inovative smart glasses concept since Google Glass! It has a transparent screen ON THE LENS!!!
- Apple released the iPhone 13, iPad and iPad Mini, and Apple Watch 7 this week!
- Google Weather finally got the update that we’ve been waiting for!!! At first I didn’t realize how much this update was changing but after receiving it this is awesome! It also added a new weather widget which is the first Google Weather App widget!
- Now, for the news that we’ve been waiting for… after months, we finally have the Canon EOS R3!!!!!! It has the impressive Eye Track autofucus, CRAZY frame rates, and more!!!
- A game company made a Photography Simulator? Yeah, it is a powerful simulation game for photographers. It will be coming to steam, but you kinda need a beastly computer with 40gigs of space, and 8gigs of ram.
- A DJI store opened in Dongtan, South Korea! It showed off the incredible DJI FPV drone and is quite a cool looking store! Anyone want to go to South Korea tomorrow! (I wish)😂
- I also have some very sad news. David Bailey has revealed that he has been suffering from Vascular Dimentia for the past three years. He says that he is still going strong though and it isn’t affecting his work!
- We have some fairphone 4 renders that look interesting…
- Nikon is working on the second gen Unistellar telescope with eVscope.
- Google has teamed up with Yale to release a Smart Lock again after a few years! Although Nest doesn’t make them alone, they have worked with Yale to have an integrated lock in the Google Nest Ecosystem.
- The new iPhones have an OLED screen FINALLY and some other features that Android has had for… many years. 😂
- DOT OS adds some new Android 12 inspired features.
- Now, for some pretty big and fun news. Google sent out a tweet on the Google Nexus Twitter page that has been inactive for years with no tweets and all old tweets deleted. It was just after the Apple event the tweet read, “I’d wait for the #Pixel 6”. In just two minutes it has close to 150 likes because across the Team Nexus lifetime, the twitter page had gotten over a Million followers. This was just a super fun thing to see from an inactive twitter page!
- Xiaomi is bringing an NFC payment equipped smartwatch to the world that was previously only available in China!
- Two days ago, iPhone 13 pre-orders came out. People, don’t pre-order the iPhone before reviewers have reviewed it… It is a bad idea! 😂
- We have some rumoured Tensor Specs for the Pixel 6. It will likely be VERY FAST!
- Google is now selling chips… no, not smartphone chips, edible chips 😂. As a promotion for the upcoming Pixel 6, Google (in a hilarious promo vid) has sold 10,000 bags of chips!!!
- What was Apple thinking at the Apple event because Apple compared chromebooks to the iPad but they compared a chromebook that can be bought on sale at best buy for $100 and is from 2015 to the newest iPad saying that the iPad is 3x faster! What Apple?!! That just made the iPad look bad, not better.
- Just after pre-orders for the iPhone 13 began, all the people who decided that for some reason they wanted to get the iPhone 13 early, the Apple store went down!
- Discord is now valued at $15 BILLION! What??!!!!
- Google is now developing a Google Keep Android 12 update to fit with Material You!
- If you happen to be walking by the new Google store in New York, and if so I am VERY jealous, then you may see an actual Pixel 6 sitting in the window! Yeah, Google has put out the unreleased Pixel 6 in the store window! Also, I love the fact that the person that took the photos that 9to5 Google used was taking photos on a Pixel 5. 💗 Pixel Fans.
- Pixel 6 Billboards are popping up in the US, as we already know, Google is literally betting their whole reputation on this phone, and they are advertising the heck out of it!
- I am almost done with Google news, there is a lot of it though! For the second to last bit of Google news, fellow Pixel fans now have new Hispanic Heritage month wallpapers from Google for their phones!
- Finally, a lot of people got freaked out after the voice coming from the Google Maps navigator was not the usual one! In fact, there was a bug causing it to switch to an Indian accent voice!
- Reports show that Samsung and Huawei are quickly losing their shares in the worldwide smartphone market as Apple and Xiaomi dominate it.
- The first new Galaxy Watch powered by Wear OS is coming after the Google-Samsung watch partnership!
- Xiaomi’s colour OS has been revealed for the Android 12 update to the UI!
- Finally, GoPro released the Hero 10!!! The changes are in improved stabilization, slight design tweaks, and image quality improvements!
